Relentless innovation in the name of communication
Founded by two airline pilots in Santa Cruz, California in 1961, Plantronics set out to invent an alternate commercial aviation headsets. As the business grew, so did its trusted reputation, with NASA using a Plantronics headset for Neil Armstrong's famous words as he stepped on the moon.
The innovations continued over the years with the launch of the enormously popular StarSet Supra in 1983: the first headset designed specifically for call centres.
By the 1990's, headsets had moved beyond call centres, as office workers and executives around the world enjoyed the freedom and flexibility that cordless and handsfree telephony offered. It was during this period of rapid growth, in 1994, that Plantronics listed on the New York stock exchange.
As demand for multimedia, gaming and Internet telephony grew, Plantronics was there continually designing headsets for the new breeds of users.
As Bluetooth technologies erupted into the home and workplace, Plantronics have supported the move for even more mobility flexibility.
More recently Plantronics has made major leaps forward in comfortable, user friendly ergonomics, noise reduction and call quality of their headsets. These features are highly valued by all their users.
With the growth of VoIP and Unified Communications (UC) platforms, Plantronics is once again at the forefront. With active partnerships with all the leading UC providers for enterprises, including Avaya, Cisco, IBM and Microsoft, they ensure seamless interoperability between the users systems and the Plantronics headsets.
