Innovators in Opto-digital technology
Founded in Tokyo, Japan in 1919 by Takeshi Yamashita, the original M&KATERA company initially specialised in microscopes and thermometers. By 1923 the thermometer business was sold and the name was changed to Olympus.
The company chose the name Olympus after Mt Olympus, home of twelve Greek gods and goddesses. The name was to reflect the company's aspirations to create high quality, world famous products.
Over the years the company continued to create innovative medical optical technologies. They also branched into other complimentary areas including cameras in 1936, and audio products, for the professional and consumer markets.
Today the company continues with its roots in innovation, healthcare and service to humanity. Its core businesses now lie within Medical and Surgical equipment, Life Science Medical Imaging, Industrial Measurement and Imaging instruments, and Cameras and Audio products.
Olympus audio products like Dictaphones and Transcription kids, have been supporting professionals in the legal and medical world for decades. Although today a growing number of musicians and students use these products everyday. Grammy award winning John Mayer recently blogged, that he never leaves the music studio without his hand-held Olympus audio recorder.
Cackle sells a range of Olympus Dictation and Transcription kits, to suit a variety of users.
